CUSAT offers M.Tech, M.Sc., M.F.Sc, MA, LLM, MCA, MBA and some dual degree programs under the aegis of post graduate education. Admission to all the postgraduate programs is based on different entrance examination where in, some are conducted by CUSAT while others being national level graduate admission tests. CUSAT offers the regular MCA programs with 6 semesters and Lateral Entry MCA programs. The lateral entry program provides admission to the third semester of MCA.
The candidates seeking admission to the MCA program need to have any of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Mathematics being one of the subjects and minimum 55% marks in aggregate except the language and humanities subjects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engineering/Technology with minimum 55% marks in aggregate except the language and humanities subjects.

The candidates need to qualify the CAT test conducted by CUSAT to take admission in the MCA programs. The test comprises of 150 objective type questions to test the aptitude and capability of the candidates. The number of questions are divided into:
- Computer Science and Applications – 100 questions
- Logical reasoning – 50 questions
Test for MCA: The test comprises of 150 objective type questions designed to test the aptitude and capability of an applicant for doing the M.C.A programme. About 50% of the questions will be from Mathematics covering areas of Engineering Mathematics/B.Sc. subsidiary level Mathematics while the remaining questions will be to test the ability of the candidate in logical reasoning based on pictures, geometrical figures, patterns of words, Number Sequence, Set Theory, Logic decoding etc. For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. Rank list will be prepared on the basis of the score in the Test
Common Test for MSc (Computer Science) and Lateral Entry to III Semester MCA (MLET): The aptitude test 502 comprises of 150 objective type questions designed to test the aptitude and capability of an applicant for pursuing the MCA (Lateral Entry)/MSc Computer Science Programme. 100 questions will be from Computer Science and Applications covering areas such as C, C++, Data Base Management Systems, Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems at the Bachelor Level of Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications while the remaining 50 questions will be to test the ability of the candidate in logical reasoning based on pictures, geometrical figure, pattern of words, number sequence, logic decoding, Basic mathematics etc. For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. Rank list will be prepared on the basis of the score in the Test.
